The gift of stability / Another bus finds its home

Bus Love! We’re happy to report that we matched another transit bus to a new owner. This time, to a deserving nonprofit that’s bringing a schooling alternative to a special group of children. ‘Yes We Can World Foundation‘ founders converted a coach bus into a school classroom, hired accredited teachers and are now running the first bilingual school program for migrant children who are awaiting asylum hearings with their families in Mexico, at the US/Mexico border.

The school program offers hope, support and the kind of self confidence that comes from getting a quality education. Lessons include reading and writing, math and the arts. BR reps plan to visit and bring a humane education piece to their curriculum in the new year. Estefania and Kyle flew up to Oakland on October 27 so we could put the keys in their hands.

This bus will allow them to double the size of their program by picking kids up from a second shelter and bringing them to school. We’re smitten with this group and their dedication. Check them out!
