Life on the streets

Bella lives in a homeless encampment with her people. Someone threw an M-80 (a large and powerful firecracker) into the camp, and Bella’s eye was blown out. She was in extreme pain for two days, but her people were unable to afford the emergency care.

A friend told them about our Owner Support event and they showed up, hoping for help. Thankfully, donations to the KeepEm Home program allow us to wave a quick ‘Yes’ to extras in extreme situations like this. Dr. Noe removed/repaired her eye and spayed her at the same time.

She was such a lovely dog. Her injury, along with her people’s terrible predicament, was a sobering reminder of the many dangers people face when they’re living on the streets. Where do you go for help when you have nothing?
