Food for Life

One of the key resources needed to help families keep their dogs in 2020 was kibble. We were fortunate to receive donated food from compassionate private citizens as well as the rescue minded folks at Pet Food Express. 

We distributed the food in different ways. In most cases, we filled requests by connecting with homes in person, met their pets and learned about other needs such as veterinary care or behavior advice. In some cases, we coordinated with other orgs such as the Oakland Compassion Project to help feed the dogs owned by families living in local homeless encampments.

We were just one of many pet food providers. The need is so big. Thankfully many other orgs jumped into the work to make sure family pets could be fed. See some of those orgs here: List

We expect this need to continue on through the rest of 2021.
