Fixing a puppy's owie
Coco’s owner was distraught when we met at an Oakland-based Nut Truck event. Her puppy’s toes had been crushed in an accident, and she didn’t have funds for emergency care. We covered the cost of repeat vet visits, involving weekly splints to help her grow up with a fully functioning foot.
While covering emergency medical costs is not a primary part of our Keep’Em Home mission, we do take on small scale medical cases on a case-by-case basis, especially for those clients who attend our owner support events. Those cases might range from fixing bones to covering the cost of tumor removals and biopsies to humane euthanasias and cremations.
We’re still growing this branch of our KEH mission and hope to have guidelines sorted soon.
