A quick pivot to help them all
Her owner was young, inexperienced and overwhelmed. He brought all the pups in for vaccines, but it was clear from their thin, dehydrated condition that mama dog (Mia) had been having a hard time feeding them. A warm conversation lead to him going home to get mama dog – and dad dog, too – for a spay and a neuter. No more struggling puppies. As he left back home with two newly neutered dogs, we loaded him up with as much wet food as he could carry to help the dog family recover.
Keeping dogs in their homes starts with troubleshooting situations and offering non-judgmental advice and easy, immediate help. Mia’s owner clearly loved his dogs. We were grateful he allowed us to create some quick solutions that would benefit everyone.
