A Craigslist ad keeps her home

We first spotted Novia on Craigslist when her Good Samaritan was trying to find her a new home. His ad said that she had not been spayed, so we sent an invitation to the upcoming Nut Truck event. That exchange sparked a family dialogue when her young owner requested help from his parents to meet the date. They didn’t know he was trying to find her a new home. He told them didn’t believe he had what it took to take care of her and thought giving her away was the responsible thing to do.

“But you have us.” His very cool parents wanted to help him make it work so Novia can stay in the family, and they came to the event ready with good questions about meeting her needs. They told us that Novia had been a big help to their son, who suffered a violent crime recently and PTSD as a result. It was the warmest of connections, all started from a quickly typed response to a Craigslist ad. Wherever they are now, we hope everyone is well and that Novia is sitting at their feet.
