Good Samaritan Support
Diamond the puppy is a ‘Good Samaritan’ dog – a lucky recipient of the good deeds of people like Raquel who’ll stop in their tracks to help a lost dog off the street. We meet dozens of helpers like this each year when they reach out for support with navigating the tricky animal shelter system. Keeping lost dogs out of crowded animal shelters if at all possible is critical to their health and well being. If Finders are able to hang onto their foundling and care for them temporarily, they receive support, training, vet care and in many cases, match making help if the first owner isn’t located.

Raquel is one of our favorite Good Sam heroes of 2018. She adored this puppy and took the very best care of her, but housing obstacles prevented her from making Diamond her own. We all watched her struggle with her decision to let go. Thankfully, a wonderful family stepped in to adopt her, so Raquel could rest easy knowing that her girl was safe. The family stays in touch and shares photos and updates – an important connection for a Good Samaritan who went the distance. A peek into Diamond-now-Lily’s new life.
