the Keep'em Home Project

Let us help you keep your dog

This page offers help if you are currently struggling to meet the needs of your pit bull.

A lack of affordable, pet-friendly resources including housing, behavior/training help and spay/neuter options can push even the most resourceful pet owners towards the difficult decision to give their dogs up to crowded shelters, and in some cases, to go homeless to keep their dogs. We'd like the opportunity to help you keep your dog. Thanks to generous gifts from our supporters including Rachael's Rescue and The Unexpected Pit Bull, we're able to offer support and a limited amount of resources to pit bull owners in the SF bay area who want to stay committed to their dogs.

Pit Bulls Only or All Breeds? Dogs identified as pit bulls represent the top three most popular breed types in the SF bay area, yet their owners face the most discrimination in the rental market and the sorest lack of affordable training resources. For this reason, we have our hands full and have committed our time and energy to improving their situation wherever possible. However! we do not turn non-pits away during our outreach events and we offer free behavior counseling, "pay what you can" vaccinations and a limited number of spay/neuter surgeries to all dogs during our events, while supplies last. Our training tips and other online resources benefit all dogs, so please take a look around our website for information that can help you understand and manage classic challenges related to dog ownership.
